About group: The first Auto Race ever organized was won by Georges Bouton on April 28, 1887 in Paris France. Early race cars averaged 15 miles per hour. In 1996, Paul Tracy recorded a trap speed of 256.948 miles per hour (413.518 km/h) at Michigan International Speedway. Auto Racing has become one of the worlds most watched sports.
